WBC light heavyweight (175) champion Dawson appears to be cashing himself out here going to Wards hometown and dropping 8 pounds. Fight looks good on paper, but Andre is the better more focused fighter. Ward wins by decision.
HBO UNDERCARD FEATURES HEAD-ON COLLISION
Antonio De Marco (27-2-2, 20 KOs) defends his WBC lightweight (135) against rugged puncher John Molina Jr. (24-0, 19 KOs). Both fighters are relatively crude in their approach. Molina is troubled by boxers. However, De Marco isn’t hard to find. Molina appears to be the bigger man and better puncher, thus I feel he wins a nip and tuck battle by late TKO.
ADAMEK FACES WALKER ON WEALTH TV
Heavyweight contender and former IBF cruiserweight champion Tomasz Ademak (46-2,28 KOs) battles journeyman slugger Travis Walker (39-7-1, 31 KOs) at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, on Saturday Afternoon. Walker can punch, but can’t do much else. Having lost whenever he’s stepped up his level of opposition, Walker’s a likely decision loser to the Pole. The real question is does anyone even get Wealth TV?
VITALI KLITSCHKO FACES UNKNOWN IN MOSCOW ON SATURDAY
Klitschko (44-2, 40 KOs) defends his WBC heavyweight title against lightly regarded Manuel Charr (21-0, 11 KOs) in Moscow Russia. Charr is too inexperienced to go the distance with the bigger, stronger Ukrainian. He gets stopped on what was supposed to be an HBO Saturday afternoon taping.
WBC 140 LB. INTERIM TITLE TILT ON SHOWTIME
Hard luck top contenders Lucas Matthysse (31-2, 29 KOs) and Olusegon Ajose (30-0, 14 KOs) battle for the WBC interim 140 lb. world title. Ajose was promised a shot at the WBC title over a year ago, but instead of getting his shot at the real belt, he WAS rewarded with a high risk-low reward bout against the division’s biggest puncher. Matthysse is powerful, but struggles against boxers and volume. Ajose, a native of Nigeria, is a big jr. welter and throws punches in bunches. Matthysse has faced the more recognizable names, but lost close bouts to Zab Judah and Devon Alexander, fights many people though he won. His lack of knockout power at the elite level concerns me here though. Also the fact that he is a slow starter against a fighter with good work ethic, I am going with the upset. Olusegun by a close decison.
