UNTESTED WILDER STICKS TOE IN WATER!

Indio, CA– (Showtime) Fantasy Springs CasinoDeontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KOs) vs Siarhei Liakhovich (26-5, 16 KOS) (Heavyweights over 200 lbs.) ODDS/PREDICTION: Wilder 8 to 1. Odds probably high but Wilder has yet to prove he wan walk sans assistance, let alone run. Liakhovich has not been “relevant” since 2005 and is 2-2 (all stoppages) in the last four years, thus the “poifect” mark to become #29 Friday night. I think Wilder is worth an $1600 risk to walk with $200 more.

SMITH LOOKS TO MAR CHARLO’S PERFECT RECORD

Antwone Smith (23-4-1, 12 KOs) vs Jermall Charlo (14-0, 10 KOs) (154 lb.) ODDS/PREDICTION: Smith 12-5. Hard to go against unbeaten guys, but Smith has fought better. Could be closer than I’ve got it here.

TWO 16-0 GUYS GO TO POST!

Francisco Vargas (16-0-1, 13 KOs) vs Brandon Bennett (16-0, 7 KOS) (130 lb.) ODDS/PREDICTION: 6-5 pick ‘em. Looks razor close on paper.

TEDDY ATLAS & ESPN2 DO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Cabazon, CA– (ESPN2) Morongo Casino ResortGerardo Robles (16-11, 7 KOS) vs Emmanuel Tagoe (21-1, 8 KOs) (130 lb.) ODDS/PREDICTION: Tagoe 5-1. If Tagoe cannot set Robles back with zeal, then he has no future.

PROFESSIONAL “OPPONENTS” SQUARE OFF

Jose Hernandez (14-6-1, 6 KOs) vs Rustam Nugaev (24-6-1, 14 KOs) (135 lb.) ODDS/PREDICTION: Even! Two journeyman types getting work against one another.
