San Francisco, CA– When I presented evidence of a murder case against the then 23-year old ex-stripper that retired boxing legend Arturo Gatti married, Amanda Rodrigues Gatti, the case was about as solid, clear and simple as anyone could imagine in 2009.
WIFE LIED FROM THE START!
Amanda Gatti first claimed that somebody broke into the villa they were staying at near Recifee, Brazil. Then the hotel released the “electronic key” records to the hotel room that proved her to be a liar. Secondly, Gatti was dead at least 10-12 hours before any authorities were notified or called. I mean, this wasn’t TV’s The Addams Family mansion of 75 rooms, it was a hotel suite and incredibly Amanda said she was in the room with the dead Gatti and didn’t know it.

After a wild night of partying, drinking, and arguing, it was the opinion of this former San Francisco Policeman and Licensed Private Investigator, that Gatti did indeed die by way of the purse strap, but from what I pulled from Brazilian authorities and news agencies it looked to me that Arturo had NOT hung himself.
GATTI STRANGLED BY WIFE?
Could a more likely scenario of Gatti being “s*it face” drunk and the wife simply wrapped the purse strap around his neck and killed him? To me, even from afar, it looked like an “open and shut” case of Amanda murdering Arturo Gatti. She was the only other adult in the suite and the strap as we see here does not look like Arturo could’ve hung himself with it.

But as is the case in a lot of murders, the investigating Brazilian Police were akin to Inspector Jacques Clouseau of the Pink Panther movies. Whether it was mere bumbling, or whether they were bought off is the question at hand, and has been with me ever since Amanda Gatti, a citizen of Brazil was released from a Brazilian jail.
DID POLICE TAKE BRIBE FROM GATTI’S WIFE?
I am also of the opinion that unless you had some video of Amanda strangling Gatti with the purse strap, the Brazilian authorities are going to look at this, yawn, and dismiss the “suspected murder” as the work of investigators with “an agenda” that were hired by the Gatti family.

A suit filed by Arturo Gatti’s family and Amanda Rodriques Gatti walked away with the bulk of Gatti’s $3.4 million. Still, Arturo’s manager Pat Lynch hired Chicago PI Paul Ciolino in 2013 who claims the original lead investigator looking into Arturo Gatti’s death has confessed on tape that evidence at the scene was destroyed and alleges that bribes were offered.

Amanda Gatti is now 30 years of age and living with Arturo Jr. in Montreal, Canada, where the Gatti family resides. Her endeavors include opening a clothing boutigue in a town where some people look at her as the “Black Widow.”
STORY HAS MORE HOLES THAN SWISS CHEESE
As for the 10-12 hours he was dead in the hotel suite, she claims to have been in the room (she was under the stairs too?) at times with the allegedly dead Gatti. The purse had blood on it, this to me indicating some struggle. That being said, reafirming what I had written at the time, and what the Gatti family has always felt, Arturo Gatti was murdered. Moral of the story? Don’t marry a skank stripper!
