Anderson Silva-Chris WeidmanKNOCKOUT OF ANDERSON SILVA “ROCKS” UFC!

San Francisco, CA– Being almost three days since the world of Dana White and the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) were turned upside down by the fists of the new UFC middleweight (185 lb.) champion Chris Weidman connecting with the chinny, and I mean chinny, chin, chin of  MMA icon Anderson Silva.

MEGA JON JONES & G.S.P. FIGHTS IN CRAPPER

Before I go on for those who dabble in the absurd and think that the fight was fixed and the UFC wanted Weidman to win, they didn’t as two mega-mega catchweight fights for Silva with light heavyweight (205)king  Jon Jones and welterweight (170) champ Georges St. Pierre went up in smoke, I mean kaput!

LEGACY OF SILVA NOT IN DOUBT

Going into the Weidman fight Anderson, a champion since 2006 that was unbeaten in 11 UFC title fights, and in 15 scraps under the UFC banner.  His destruction of upper level fighters like Rich Franklin, Nate Marquart, a much younger Vitor Belfort, Forrest Griffin, Chris Leben, these guys were all done in one.  Franklin would make the second round in a rematch and lose, as did Dan Henderson.

UFC TV TALKING HEADS MADE YOU THINK CHRIS WHO?

Look anytime you get vested in picking an underdog to lick somebody thought to be invincible, and by predicting both on radio and here ever since the fight between Silva and Chris Weidman was announced, you should have seen my hair stand on end when the UFC TV team was laying out accolades for Silva that were daunting if you were backing Weidman as they declared Silva the all mighty God of Mixed Martial Arts and the UFC.

WEIDMAN HAD “NEEDED” BUTTERFLIES

It was like I was fighting all over again as I purposely stayed away from the TV until the main event as there was some anxiety setting in seeing I was going against a God in the minds of the UFC TV team and hierarchy.  That being said, I never wavered and instructed people that ask for betting advice to get all over Weidman at 2-1, an unheard of price for a Silva challenger.

SILVA LACKED RESPECT FOR HIS SLAYER

Whether you are fighting in front of 35 people at the Boy’s Club or the thousands in attendance for events like UFC 162, now known as, “The Changing of The Guard Card,” one guy is going to win and one will lose.  It was the fear of defeat that was my great motivator, that and a little fear were what fueled me. Recalling the one time I disrespected an opponent and didn’t run doubles for a “catchweight” fight, I’ll just say it was a great learning experience that hurt in many ways.

DRESSING ROOM LIKE GAS CHAMBER WAIT!

Be it that kid in the Boy’s Club or a towel clad Mike Tyson on his way to the ring, you just want to get it over with and have the darn bell ting as the anxiety and drama of a dressing room pre-fight and that walk to the ring (Octagon) is such that it can drive some people crazy.  An unbeaten heavyweight boxer I knew with a solid amateur career retired after 15 fights because he couldn’t handle the dressing room stress or his trek to the ring.

WEIDMAN GETS THROUGH FIRST STANZA WITH GUSTO

When you train a fighter and he/she is about to engage in battle, the most important thing you want is for your fighter to make it through the first round. This is especially true if there is more than just an ass kicking (meaning big money) on the line. In the case of Chris Weidman, not only had he made it through the round, but Chris won it 10-9.

SILVA BELIEVED THE HYPE & “INVINCIBLE” BULL SPIT

Gazing across the Octagon between rounds he sees 38 year old Silva standing, all the while Team Weidman has got their fighter back unscathed after the anxiety, the ring rust of being off nine months and surgery, all of this and the fact he was fighting “the legend” Anderson Silva, geez can you think of a more stressful spot than than that for Wideman?

ANDERSON IN AWE OF NEW CHAMPION

After taking Silva down in round one, smacking a prone Silva with both hands to the face, Anderson got on his feet and did better towards the latter part of the opening round, but Chris Weidman had stunned Silva early with his fearlessness and his strength, that’s what convinced Silva to not call for a rematch, nothing else!

SECOND ROUND THE FINAL AS CHAMPION FOR SILVA

The KO blow was really the left hook that Silva didn’t see coming in from the side. While Weidman followed the concussed Brazilian to the mat with a few more blows, they weren’t needed as Silva was “chin checked” before the left hook that put out his lights. Being “chin checked” is being stung to the point where you’re frozen and can’t really get your body to do what you want. One is are aware of their surroundings sans sometimes any physical control. Whether it lasts a few seconds or longer. you need to avoid being smacked as you are suceptable to being knocked out in the “chin checked” condition Silva was in.

REMATCH IN 2014 LOOKS LIKELY

UFC czar Dana White has indicated that he would like to put together, “the biggest fight in MMA history,” the Weidman-Silva rematch in early 2014.  While Silva said he wasn’t interested in doing it again, expect his fans and pundits to entice Anderson into what amounts to “one last payday,” cause he ain’t beating Chris Weidman.

TALENTED CHAMP HAS “THAT THING” ABOUT HIM

What makes Weidman amazing outside of the fact he beat a 33-4 fighter with 11 title wins is that he has only 10 MMA fights under his belt.  With “low mileage” on his body, Wediman at 29 has the speaking ability, the complexion and the UFC connections to evolve in time to a international star that the mainstream media can fall head over heels for.  That is “The Thing” Weidman has about him!
