TRAVIS BROWN “GASSED” EARLY IN CAREER CHANGER
Los Angeles, CA– Fabricio Werdum (18-5-1) became the next heavyweight (265 lb. limit) title challenger with a dominant 5-round decision win over Travis Browne (16-2-1) in the main event of UFC on Fox 11. Browne started the bout well but seemed to exhaust himself very quickly and was beaten to the punch continuously by the Brazilian. Werdum will fight champion Cain Velasquez (13-1) in Mexico for his next fight. I think Cain will once again show how wide the gap is between him and the rest of the division.
TATE EMERGES VICTOR OVER CARMOUCHE
Meisha Tate (14-5) proved to be the gourmet Ronda Rousey (9-0) leftover dish with a close UD 3 win against fellow Rousey victim Liz Carmouche (9-5). With how thin the bantamweight (135) division is, Tate may get yet another opportunity to get her arm broken by the rowdy one.
CERRONE PREVAILS IN “FIGHT OF NIGHT”
Lightweight (155) Donald Cerrone (23-6-0-1) got an exciting submission win over Edson Barboza (13-2) at 3:15 of the first round. Cerrone was wobbled himself in the fight, but persevered to drop and subsequently choke out Barboza, who is a bit chinny.
CUBANO ON THE CARD A VICTOR
Cuban wrestling standout Yoel Romero (8-1) notched a solid UD 3 versus Brad Tavares (13-2). Perhaps most impressive was the fact the Romero managed to go the full fight distance without emptying his bowels.
The UFC put together a better showing on Big Fox this time, with Cerrone-Barboza far and above being the fight of the night.
