“NATURAL BORN KILLER” OR “NATURAL BORN OUT-POINTER”?
Los Angeles, CA-Welterweight (170 lb.) contender Carlos Condit (29-8) features in the starring role of UFC Fight Night: Condit vs. Alves. Condit is back for the first time since losing by knee injury to Tyron Woodley (15-3). Across the cage from him will be Thiago Alves (21-9). Alves is a solid fighter, but I do not think home country advantage at the Goiania Arena in Goiania, Goias, Brazil will be enough to defeat one of the best welterweights in the world. Condit has been a point-fighter in recent years, but I think he will go back to his killer ways on Saturday night.
REST OF CARD NOT-SO WORTHY
Aside from a decent main event, there is not much to see here, folks. Featherweights (145) Nik Lentz (25-6-2, 1 NC) and Charles Oliveira (19-4, 1 NC) will mix it up in the chief support, with Lentz being the favorite here. Brazil’s Alex Oliveira (10-2-1, 1 NC) will lose to the very average lightweight (155) K.J. Noons (13-7, 1 NC) and disappoint the ravenous home fans. Canadian light heavyweight (205) Ryan Jimmo (19-4) will be another example of North America’s success over South America when he defeats Francimar Barroso (16-4).
DOES NOT GET BETTER FROM THERE
English lightweight Norman Parke (20-3-1) will add another L to Francisco Trinaldo’s (16-4) resume in yet another tough one to watch for the natives. Opening the card will be yet another Brazilian failure! Welterweight Darren Till (12-0) of England will knock out Wendell de Oliveira Marques (24-8) around 10PM/7PM ETPT. Side note: Does everyone in Brazil have the name “Oliveira” somewhere in their name?
