CRO COP EVENS THE SCORE
Los Angeles, CA– At the Krakow Arena in Krakow, Poland, and live on UFC Fight Pass, UFC Fight Night featured the return of heavyweight (265 lb. limit) Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (31-11-2, 1 NC). Cro Cop successfully avenged his 2007 first-round KO loss to Gabriel Gonzaga (16-10) in the main event with a third round TKO victory.
TRILOGY?
While this fight was not the worst, it was not necessarily entertaining enough to warrant a rematch. Cro Cop will likely fight on, though it is difficult to see him beating the elites.
CO-MAIN AS PREDICTED
Light heavyweight (205) Jimi Manuwa (15-1) beat Jan Blachowicz (18-4) by unanimous decision. It was a decent win for Manuwa, who looks to move towards title contention at some point in the future.
UNDERCARD HO HUM
Welterweight (170) Pawel Pawlak (12-1) won a unanimous decision over Sheldon Westcott (8-3-1) on the undercard. In the opening bout of the main card, I see strawweight (115) Maryna Moroz’ (6-0) took Joanne Calderwood’s (9-1) zero by way of second round armbar. Time was 1:30. Decent main event, but if you missed this card, you really did not miss much.
