Los Angeles, CA– For the large number of fans who will miss Saturday’s UFC Fight Night, I have good news: The fights are not very good. Heavyweight (265 limit) Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (30-11-2, 1 NC) will try to avenge his 2007 first-round KO loss to Gabriel Gonzaga (16-9) in the main event at the Krakow Arena in Krakow, Lesser Poland, Poland.
WHY IS THERE A REMATCH?
I think Cro Cop simply got caught in the first fight, and should be able to beat Gonzaga. Both guys are way past their best, so this fight really has very little value from a legacy perspective.
THINK THE CO-MAIN IS BETTER? THINK AGAIN
Light heavyweight (205) Jimi Manuwa (14-1) should beat Jan Blachowicz (18-3). Not much to really say there. Two prospects who don’t look too threatening to the title. Manuwa just looks better and more versatile.
STARTS WITH A WHIMPER!
Welterweight (170) Pawel Pawlak (11-1) should be capable of defeating Shelton Westcott (8-2-1). He is the home fighter, after all. In the opening bout of the main card, I see strawweight (115) Joanne Calderwood (9-0) taking Maryna Moroz’ (5-0) zero. Tune in at 3PM/12PM ETPT if you care enough and have nothing better to do. This card is the opposite of “appointment television. I would say just read the results and save yourself the time. It is a Saturday. Surely you can find something fun to do.
