UFC NOT PLAYING MSG ANYTIME SOON

San Francisco, CA– The New York State Senate has passed a bill legalizing Mixed Martial Arts, the UFC et al, in each of the past six years. After the NY Senate, the bill has went to and died each year in the NY State Assembly.
UFC IN STANDOFF WITH NY & VEGAS UNIONS
The dream of many, especially UFC middleweight king Chris Weidman, a native upstate New Yorker, to stage a UFC event in 2016 appears to be just that, a dream. The sole reason MMA is not welcome in New York is that the Fertitta bros., Frank and Lorenzo, the majority owners of the UFC also have a number of “non-union casinos” in Nevada.
NOBODY BLINKING IN ALL OUT WAR
With neither side willing to adhere to the demand of the other, and Labor Unions still having power in New York, the ever-evolving world of mixed martial arts will evolve a bit more time, perhaps another five years or more before the UFC plays the iconic venue that is Madison Square Garden. New York stands as the only state left where MMA is still banned.
DANA WHITE RESPONDS IN FOUR LETTER RANT
UFC President Dana White, who has been quite vocal about New York politics for years, reacted to this news in typical Dana fashion with a volley of four letter words that are unfit to print!
UFC HAS LAWSUIT TROUBLE
Of course, the UFC is still facing a Class Action law suit as a number of fighters, some active, but mostly retired, claim that the UFC set itself up as a monopoly and because of such they were denied both money and career options. While the case has been filed in California, the UFC’s parent company, Zuffa Sports has attempted to change the venue back to their Las Vegas backyard. Watch this space!
