PEOPLE NOW KNOW WHO CHRIS WEIDMAN IS?

San Francisco, CA– There is no dispute as to who is the best middleweight (185 lb.) in the world of MMA today, that being the new UFC champion Chris Weidman.  Although most people felt Anderson Silva was the best fighter in the world, I felt that way but I knew that Weidman was too much for the 38-year old Brazilian.  Too young, too strong, too good, Weidman owned Anderson in the early going of round one.  But as the first round wound down, Silva was starting to get his groove on a bit.

CHRIS EARLY & SILVA LATE IN OPENING ROUND

But it was all for naught as Weidman regained his composure between the first five minute round of battle as he looked refreshed when he got off the stool for what might be the final round in the career of Anderson Silva.  Having gone unbeaten in 11 title fights, Silva was a guy that believed the UFC press releases, that he was an unbeatable fighting machine.  Putting on a poor, and I mean poor immitation of Muhammad Ali clowning with his hands down, Silva was disrespecting the 29 year old Weidman as he continued to taunt the undefeated challenger.

SILVA CLOWNS & GETS CLOWNED!

Just then the world of Anderson Silva, as I so boldly predicted both on the radio and a multitude of times in print, that Silva was not leaving the Octagon middleweight champion.  With arms by his side and sticking his “glass” jaw (more on that later) out and Chris threw a boxing combination that saw a left hook land right on Silva’s chin. As Silva began to fall, Weidman tapped  on the jaw and as he hit the mat, Weidman threw a few more shots on a concussed Silva that prompted referee Herb Dean to halt matters at 1:18 of round two.him

SILVA WAS OUT WHEN HITTING THE FLOOR

As is the case with a lot of MMA scraps, there was no controversy with the finish seeing Silva was knocked out and acknowledged such in the post fight interview as he applauded Chris Weidman and hinted at retirement.  The glass jaw of Silva was something that was exposed during a brief professional boxing career where he went 2-1, the lone loss a bad drilling that can be seen on YouTube.com
