JONES BACKS OUT OF SONNEN FIGHT!

San Francisco, CA– Having heard for a couple of days that UFC 151 was in peril due to an injury sustained by light heavyweight (205 lb) challenger Dan Henderson, the name Chael Sonnen came up as a last-minute replacement challenger for UFC champ Jon Jones. Then Jones nixed a scrap with Sonnen, who would be moving up 20 lbs. sans a full training camp to face Jones in eight days on September 1 at UFC 151 in Las Vegas, NV. A fortnight ago, Sonnen was halted in one round by middleweight (185) champ Anderson Silva. All this had me scratching my head as thousands of people will be affected by Jones turning Chael’s offer to step in at the last moment down.

AIRLINES DON’T CARE WHY!

If you bought non-refundable airline tickets, none of the carriers could give a hoot as to why you couldn’t or wouldn’t make the flight. Outside of a Dr.’s note stating you were too sick to fly, your ticket is punched!

RUMORS HAD CHRIS WEIDMAN STEPPING IN FOR HENDO!

Unbeaten Chris Weidman, coming off his thrilling thrashing of Mark Munoz about a month ago was rumored to step in as a title challenger. That’s the last word floating about the Internet. UFC head Dana White was infuriated with both Jon Jones and trainer Greg Jackson. White told ESPN, “This is probably one of my all-time lows as being president of the UFC,” White said in one of the tamer, more family-friendly moments. “I don’t know why a guy who is a world champion and considered by many one of the pound-for-pound best wouldn’t fight somebody. I don’t know the answer to that. It’s baffling to me. I’ve never seen it before.”

I LOOK AT IT THIS WAY!

Jon “D.G.F.” Jones

Last year, both then UFC heavyweight (205+) champ Cain Velasquez and current champ Junior Dos Santos entered their November fight injured. Velasquez had a bad shoulder and knee, while Santos had a broken foot. Still, for the sake of the promotion and the fans, both men entered the Octagon hurt. For Jones to turn down Chael, who would have had but a week to train, as White put it, was both” selfish” and just wrong! Never in the 11 years that White has been running the UFC has a major star pulled the crap Jones has. This will be the first UFC major event under his leadership that has been canceled.

MANY REASONS NOT TO FIGHT CHRIS WEIDMAN

In regards to the 10-0 Weidman, if I were Jon Jones I’d stay away from Chris and be running towards Chael. As for Jones, if all of this turns out to be true, he has lost my respect and that of thousands of UFC fans worldwide!
