Las Vegas, NY– In the main event of the WEC card on the Versus network Sunday night, former ‘pound for pound’ contender Miguel Torres (37-2, 9 KOs, 22 SUBs) was knocked cold by a barrage of punches by the new bantamweight (135 lbs) champ Brian Bowles (8-0, 3 KOs, 5 SUBs).

Torres lay motionless on the canvas after Bowles’ brutal knockout win which came at 3:57 of the very first round. In the co-main event bantamweight contender Joseph Benavidez (10-1, 2 KOs, 6 SUBs) lost to upstart Dominick Cruz (14-1, 5 KOs, 1 SUB) via unanimous decision. Scores: 30-27, & 29-28 twice.
