New York, NY– Vitali Klitschko (37-2, 36 KO’s) will defend his IBF and WBO heavyweight titles against undefeated Mexican-American hopeful Cristobal Arreola (27-0, 24 KO’s) tonight on HBO World Championship Boxing. On paper and in theory this proposed 12 round affair captures the imaginations of fight fights to extreme measures. Cristobal is campaigning to the first heavyweight fighter of Mexican heritage to win a Heavyweight crown. Ukraine’s Vitali Klitschko will be returning to the famed Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA which has played host to some of Vitali’s most memorable moments, including his savage war with the last real champ Lennox Lewis.
NATURAL BORN DESTROYERS
Both combatants combine for 64 wins with 60 KO’s and are with out a doubt the biggest punchers in boxing. It is no secret that Chris packs a tremendous punch pulverizing 24 out of his 27 adversaries. In previous efforts Klitschko has endured world class championship fight experience beating down challengers such as Samuel Peter, Corrie Sanders, Danny Williams, Kirk Johnson, and Juan Carlos Gomez all in stunning knockout fashion.
WEIGHT & AGE PLAY KEY ROLES
Arreola is faced with the seemingly insurmountable task of defeating the supremely conditioned Klitchsko but has responded in his preparations by significantly lowering his weight and getting in the best shape of his career. After a four-year retirement due to injury, Klitschko has shown no signs of ring rust returning to the sport with two consecutive knockout victories. However at 38 years of age, boxing history suggests deterioration of a fighter at this stage can happen over night thus resulting in a situation Klitschko cannot control. This match up proves to be a test of intestinal fortitude to the fullest regard for as long as it lasts.
