CHARLES SET EXAMPLE ALMOST UNPARALLELED IN BOXING
San Francisco, CA– Having been in the boxing business for a lot longer than one cares to admit, there have been some instances in which I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some nice people. Case in point, Nick Charles, an award winning TV journalist that is currently Sho Box’s blow by blow announcer. One of CNN’s first stars, Charles won the Sam Taub award for outstanding broadcasting in 2008, and was twice awarded Cable’s Ace award for his work in sports television.
NICK & I WORKED SEATTLE BACK IN 1990
So, what am I about to write brings me much pain because Charles, now 62, has been diagnosed with a deadly form of Cancer. The first time I met him was in a Seattle, WA, elevator during the 1990 Goodwill Games. Having had Nick on my show, “Ring Talk Worldwide,” a few months ago, he was eloquent, informative, funny, but most of all, Nick was the real thing! We wish him the very best as he battles a daunting foe.
