New York, NY – Despite the baseball/football crazed month of October, boxing delivers a multitude of somewhat meaningful match ups of intrigue this weekend.

LIGHT HEAVY GOIN’ HEAVY

Former undisputed light heavyweight (175 lbs) champion Antonio “Magic Man” Tarver(27-6, 19 KOs) makes his heavyweight debut against  power punching journeymen Nagy “Dynamite” Aguilera(16-4, 11 KOs) over ten rounds or less at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma, Friday at 11 PM ET on Showtime.

ANY MAGIC LEFT SINCE ROCKY MOVIE?

Over the past two decades, Antonio Tarver has successfully scrapped against the upper echelon combatants of not only his weight class, but the sport in general. After a few recent setbacks, and without any luck securing lucrative match ups at 175, Tarver has packed on some pounds and moves north to try his luck in a very scarcely talented heavyweight division in need of some salvation.

NAGY WHO?

Albeit not a house hold name, Nagy Aguilera is a hungry brawler who has fought decent opposition and possesses tremendous “lights out” type power which opposes a threat to anyone he faces.

EPSN WEBCAST HAS POSSIBLE FIGHT OF THE WEEKEND ON TAP

Undefeated IBF super middleweight (168 lbs) title holder Lucian Bute(26-0, 21 KOs) takes on “Contender” season one star Jesse Brinkley(35-5, 22 KOs) in a proposed 12 round attraction at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, Friday at 9:30 PM ET on ESPN 360.com.

REPEAT?

After a series of victories in front of his adoring fans in his adopted country of Canada, Lucian Bute is looking to continue his success. Another spectacular win for Bute could open the doors for greater international appeal and possibly rank him among the elite fighters in a division that has received much publicity of late.

BRINKLEY ON THE BRINK?

After a career of “ups and downs”, former reality television star Jesse Brinkley has recently won nine straight with five knockouts, earning him a dream opportunity to finally contest for a world title.

BIG FISTED SMALL PUGS LOOK TO THUG

Fresh off four consecutive scintillating knockout victories, unbeaten rising star Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.(19-0-1, 16 KOs) attempts to defend his recently acquired WBO flyweight (112) strap against rugged challenger Ivan Hernandez (28-4-1, 17 KOs) over 12 scheduled rounds of throw down at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida, Saturday at 9 PM ET on PPV.

ESPN HITS THE WEB ONE MORE TIME

Due to HBO and Showtime’s ban of the brother’s Klitschko, ESPN 360.com will be the only American outlet for fans to catch Vitali Klitschko’s (40-2, 38 KOs) slated 12 round defense of his WBC crown against former WBO strap carrier Shannon Briggs(51-5-1, 45 KOs). Coverage begins at 6 PM ET on Saturday.

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST?

Having knocked out seven of his last eight challengers and boasting the sports highest knockout percentage of active champions, Vitali’s ability to handle heavyweight hopefuls has been unparalleled.  At 38 years of age, Vitali still continues his quest for ultimate recognition as the best heavyweight in the world. Veteran fighter, challenger; Shannon Briggs will look to reach outside of his established demeanor as an underachieving banger and attempt to overcome the seemingly insurmountable task of slaying the giant that is Vitali Klitschko.
