CANELO REMAINS UNBEATEN

Guadalajara, Mexico – Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, (153.2 lbs), Juanacatlan, Jalisco, Mexico TKO 12 Ryan Rhodes, (152.8), Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom (WBC 154 lb. title) Alvarez (37-0-1, 27 KOs) scored a final round (12) stoppage of Rhodes (45-5, 31 KOs).  Alvarez punished Rhodes for the entire fight, dropping him in the fourth.  To his credit, Rhodes went for the KO in the last round, but the bout was waved off by referee Hector Afu after Alvarez landed some good shots after 48 seconds.

LITZAU DRILLED IN HBO OPENER
                
Adrien Broner, (128.3), Cincinnati, OH TKO 1 Jason Litzau, (129.6), Saint Paul, MN. Broner (21-0, 17 KOs) demolishes Litzau (28-3, 21 KOs) in the first round.  Broner trapped Litzau in the corner and pummeled Litzau to the deck. Time was 2:58. This could be the end of the road for Litzau, as the beating was a “telling” one.

KING OF UPSETS PULLS OFF YET ANOTHER

Austin, TXGrady Brewer, (153.75), Lawton, OK TKO 4 Fernando Guerrero, (152.75), Salisbury, MD. Brewer (29-12, 17 KOs) scored a stunningly easy fourth round stoppage of previously unbeaten Guerrero (21-1, 16 KOs).  Brewer dropped Guerrero through the ropes with right hands in round four and finished him moments later with an uppercut.  Referee Jon Schorle called it a night at 2:16.
                      
BORING FIGHT ENDS WITH FORBES BEING HALTED

Karim Mayfield, (146.5), San Francisco, CA TKO 10  Steve Forbes, (149), Las Vegas, NV. ‘Hard Hitta’ Mayfield (14-0-1, 9 KOs) stops former champion Forbes (35-10, 11 KOs) for the first time in what was his 45th fight.  After a fairly boring fight, a barrage of punches by Mayfield prompted referee Gregorio Alvarez to step in at 1:03.
