FRIDAY NIGHT’S SHO BOX CARD

Newkirk, OKAllen Green UD 10 Tarvis Simms. Ranked super middleweight (168 lbs) Green (29-1, 20 KOs) fought a hard tactical battle that earned him a unanimous decision over late sub Tarvis Simms (25-1-1, 11 KOs). The scorecards were a little too much in favor of Green, the hometown favorite. Simms fought much better than the scores of 98-92, 99-91, and 97-93 indicate.

Antwone Smith KO 9 Henry Crawford. Smith (17-1-1, 9 KOs) scored an impressive and surprising ninth round stoppage over the game but outclassed Crawford (22-1-1, 9 KOs). Although. Crawford started well; the unusually heavy fisted Smith eventually dropped Crawford in the ninth. This prompted Crawford to not come out for round ten.

Marcus Johnson UD 8 Victor Villereal. Johnson (18-0, 14 KOs) had an easy night while shutting out tough Victor Villereal (8-4-2, 4 KOs). Johnson dropped Villereal in round six, and won with 80-71 on all three cards.

Hamilton, New ZealandDavid Tua KO 2 Shane Cameron. Tua, 13 years removed from his greatest moment, a loss (UD 12) to Ike Ibeabuchi, (50-3-1, 43 KOs) had another quick night against Shane Cameron (23-2, 20 KOs). Cameron’s jab was effective in the first round until Tua connected with a left hook that dropped Cameron for an eight count. The fight was stopped at the start of round number two when Tua pounced on a staggering Cameron. Time was 0:07 of the second stanza.
