THE MOUSE IS INDEED “MIGHTY”
San Francisco, CA– When they said “Big things come in small packages, they must have been talking about “Mighty Mouse.” No not the animated character of iconic proportions, I’m referring to the UFC flyweight (125 lbs.) champion Demetrius Johnson. After having his “toughness” put to a test by challenger John Dodson in the opener, “Mighty Mouse” was more than mighty as he rolled to an easy five round unanimous decision. The scores were The judges scored it 49-46 & 48-47 twice for Johnson.
PREDICTION OF DEMISE OF “RAMPAGE” NOT OFF MARK
When I was discussing the light heavyweight (205) fight between ex-Pride Fighting Championships star and former UFC champion Quinton Jackson with UFC heavyweight Pat “Hype or Die” Barry on “Ring Talk Worldwide,” in the MMA hour, I told Barry, who had never seen Glover Teixeira fight, that Quinton wasn’t beating the talented Teixeira. Reason being, Jackson is done. In other words, stick a fork in him. Well, Glover stuck that fork in him on UFC On Fox 6 airing on the network from Chicago, IL.
FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH PREVAILS
With both men looking to stand and box, Jackson’s age caught up with him as Glover had
the better stand up, was able to mix it up and take Jackson down a few times. With the age advantage is supposed to come the better cardio. That was obviously the case as the third five-minute round wound down. Hey UFC champJon Jones, Glover is in da’ light heavyweight house. Scores were 30-27 twice & 29-28.
PETTIS RUNS DOWN COWBOY
Looking at the Anthony Pettis-Donald Cerrone lightweight (155) scrap, I was hard pressed to pick a winner. So was Pat Barry. It started off with both guys trying to figure out the other and to not make a mistake while doing so. Using his patented “Showtime” knee to hurt “The Cowboy” Cerrone, Pettis would stop his opponent with a vicious kick to the liver that was followed up with punches in bunches. In other words, ouch and night’s over!
