PAULIE MAKES “MAGIC” IN UKRAINE!
San Francisco, CA– The kid from Brooklyn, NY, a decisive underdog, Paulie Malignaggi made the trek to the Ukraine to face what was thought to be a nearly impossible task in that he was stepping up in weight to 147 lbs. and fighting hometown lad and WBA champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (32-1, 21 KOs). Malignaggi, an excellent boxer and former US amateur champion, has always been bothered by sore hands. This career long ailment did not play a part in the fight as Malignaggi, now (31-4, 7 KOs) used a stinging left jab to shut Senchenko’s left eye.
REMEMBER, “SPEED KILLS”
Paulie’s handspeed advantage beat Senchenko to the punch time and again. With the all swollen shut, referee Steve Smoger
stopped the bout awarding Malignaggi a TKO 9 victory at the 1:10 mark over Senchenko who came in undefeated. The ex-champ had his moments, but this night belonged to “The Magic Man” from Brooklyn, NY.
