”SOMETHING SIMPLY HAS TO GIVE”
Pittsburgh, PA– Imagine the scene as it unfolds…or better yet the fighter you picked to win between World 140 lb. champ Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao prevails. It seems too good to be true as this match-up matches the “best against the best.” Something has to give, right? Pacquiao is favored by the experts, but hey they have been plenty wrong in the past, especially involving Manny Pacquiao.
MEGA FIGHT EVEN BIGGER IN ENGLAND THAN US!
We are now a month away from the May 2 super clash that will air on PPV both here in the US and the UK, where the fight will do roughly double the number of US homes. PPV execs are expecting a million+ PPV buys in the UK, even though the card starts at 2 AM London time. On paper, it appears to be a fight that surely will not disappoint.
PAC MADE OSCAR QUIT IN CORNER Fresh off his demolishing the legendary Oscar De La Hoya in December 2009, “Pacman” gets right back in the ring sans a soft tune-up bout to take on Hatton. Standing across the way from the hottest fighter in the game in 30 days is Hatton, the man who has never tasted defeat at 140 lbs. His lone loss was at 147 lbs. to Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
BOTH GUYS ARE NEAR THEIR PEAR
As far as I’m concerned, flipping a coin might provide the neutral fight fan a soothing, mind relaxing betting tactic. However, divided boxing fanatics seem to be rooting for one fighter or country. It’s the way “mega-fights” usually go in that they tend to always leave the public divided. Questions will be answered, trainers might be fighting each other (Floyd Mayweather Sr.-Freddie Roach), but it all boils down to what really matters the most: Pacquiao challenging Hatton!
CAN PACK KEEP TRAIN ON TRACKS?
Manny Pacquiao, 48-3-2, 36 KOs, is on a tear after a close loss, twice avenged, to then champ Erik Morales. Call Morales Pacquiao’s “arch enemy” and you stand the chance of Juan Manuel Marquez chasing you down. After dropping a controversial split decision last year, Marquez went all the way to the Philippines to ask (goad) Pacman into a rematch that Manny passed on. He’s about creating history with his fists and charisma, not his mouth and cockiness (huge difference). Call the power punching Pacman whatever you wish, but he has “peoples champion” written all over without the need for paper or pen!
PICKING THE WINNER NOT TOUGH HERE
Both fighters will be trying to impose their will from the start with effective aggression. While neither man is a defensive gem, Pacquiao generates better defense by employing a lightning strike-like offense. On the other hand, Hatton will take one or two punches in order to land a couple of his own. In the end it’s Manny Pacquiao standing triumphant with a 9th round TKO over a courageous Ricky Hatton!
