HBO FROM THE “BIG APPLE”
New York City, NY– Nonito Donaire, (116.25 lbs), Newark, CA- UD 12 Omar Narvaez, (117), Cordoba, Argentina. (WBO/WBC118 lbs titles) Donaire (27-1, 18 KOs) made the once undefeated Narvaez (35-1-2, 19 KOs), a 37 fight seasoned veteran, look like an amateur over twelve one-sided rounds. Though he looked uninspired to some in the match, Donaire managed a shutout on all three cards at 120-108.
FOUL FILLED FIGHT ENDS WELL FOR GERMAN CHAMP HUCK
Ludwigsburg, Germany– Marco Huck, (198.4), Berlin, Germany TKO 6 Rogelio Rossi, (197.5), Buenos Aries, Argentina (WBO 200 lb.title) Huck (34-1, 25 KOs) issued a complete demolition of Rossi (17-3-1, 11 KOs) over six foul-filled rounds. Rossi, deducted a point for a low blow in round three, was down four times. Five if you count the one when he was hit after the bell to end round four, which Huck was penalized two points by referee Paul Thomas. The end came in round six after a right by Huck leveled Rossi for an extended period.
Though a stretcher was brought to ringside, Rossi was okay. Time of the stoppage was not given.
SHO BOX RAN FRIDAY NIGHT
Uncasville, CT– Edwin Rodriguez, (171 lbs), Worcester, MA UD 10 Will Rosinsky, (171), Ozone Park, NY. Rodriguez (20-0, 14 KOs) and Rosinsky (14-1, 8 KOs) had a “ feeling out ” session that lasted about thirty seconds and then let their punches go! As Rosinsky landed with more power, Rodriguez countered with accuracy and body shots. While Rodriguez’ punch output increased the pesky Rosinsky wouldn’t give ground until the final bell. In the end Rodriguez scored a shutout as all three judges scored it incredulously 100-90. Right fighter won but the bad scoring caused a near riot.
ALL NEW YORK SEMI MAIN WENT THE ROUTE
Gabriel Bracero, (140), Brooklyn, NY UD 10 Daniel Sostre, (138), Highland, NY. Bracero (18-0, 3 KOs) stayed busier in what seemed to be a sparring session without headgear against Sostre (11-5-1, 4 KOs). After nine mirror like rounds the action picked up in the final stanza. Cards were 100-90 twice and 99-91.
UNDERCARD RESULTS
Ryan Kielczewski, (130), Quincy, MA UD 6 Willie Villanueva, (129), Albuquerque, NM
The popular local fighter Kielczewski (12-0, 2 KOs) doesn’t disappoint against a lively but extremely inferior Villanueva (10-3, 3 KOs). Scores were all 60-54. Dyah Davis, (172), Coconut Creek, FL UD 6 Darnell Boone, (166), Atlanta, GA. Davis (20-2-1, 9 KOs) has a hard outing against a fighter seemingly put in to pad his record in Boone (19-18-3, 8 KOs). Scores were 59-56, 59-55, and 58-56.
