HAYMON & JAY ZEE PROMOTE WEEKEND FIGHTS

San Francisco, CA– For those of that think Al Haymon is the boxing equivalent of the anti-Christ, you know much like President Obama and his Health Care program. Relax, you’re getting more fights and on Network TV, meaning boxing fans, just like the millions that now have heath care, are the winners!

SPENCE FOE PULLED FOR BEING “WAY OVERWEIGHT”

Roberto Garcia could not make the 147 lb. limit and now the unbeaten lefty Errol Spence (16-0, 13 KOs) will face an Italian working out of Toronto, Canada Phil Lo Greco (26-1, 14 whacks).

WHO IS THIS CANADIAN/DIEGO?

Phil’s claim to fame is a near shutout loss to main eventer Shawn Porter 25 months ago. With one fight and win in March, the Paisan comes in at the last minute and a bit bigger than Spence. That being said, expect Spence to get out his paddle and spank Le Grego inside the route.

CBS EARLY SUNDAY AFTER NBC SATURDAY NIGHT

About 16 hours after the curtain comes down on the NBC TV show (The Adrien Broner-Shawn Porter main was previewed yesterday at RingTalk.com), Haymon comes with a CBS Sunday afternoon event pitting highly touted Cuban (I’m not sold) Rances Barthelemy (22-0, 13 KOs) vs. 140 lb. rough guy Antonio DeMarco (31-4-1, 23 KOs) as Haymon does a Network switch.

ANTONIO WILL NEED TO TAKE CHANCES

DeMarco turned back both Jorge Linares (UD 12) and John Molina (KO 1), holding a 140 lb. belt and losing at 147 with Adrien Broner, we will see as this jr. welter dime (10 rounds) will depend on whether Rances is willing to go for it as Tee Jay’s De Marco, who lost last time out with 140 lb. belt bearer Jessie Vargas (21-0, 9 KOs) surely will.

VASQUEZ FACES GUY VARGAS BEAT

Pennsylvania native Sammy Vasquez (18-0, 13 KOs) is 29, a Caucasian southpaw and will face unheralded Wale Omotoso (25-1, 21 KOs) of Oxnard, CA by way of Nigeria. Like DeMarco, he too lost to Jessie Vargas a couple of years ago (UD 10).

TICKET-SELLER NOT IN SO EASY?

Even though the Premier Boxing Champions website dod not have a picture of Wale, he’s got 21 stops in 25 wins, I don’t care if he was fighting you and me every time out, 21 in 25 means this guy Wale can crack!

ANDRE WARD REURNITH ON BET SATURDAY NIGHT

The great Andre Ward (27-0, 14 KOs) is back in a boxing ring, this time with gloves and not a microphone after an 18 month absence attributed to both injuries and a contract dispute with the late promoter Dan Goossen against Paul

Andre "He's Back" Ward

Andre “He’s Back” Ward

Smith (35-5, 20 KOs) at 172 lbs. Saturday night from Oakland, CA on the Black Entertainment Television Network.

WARD ON “RING TALK WORLDWIDE”

Smith dropped his last two fights, the first razor close and both to Arthur Abraham, whom Ward handled with ease. We will press Ward as to whether or not he goes to 175 soon or not on Ring Talk Worldwide Saturday at 11 AM PT.

OVERALL A DARN GOOD WEEKEND OF BOXING

The weekend has two cards on Network TV, courtesy of Al Haymon, and a third put together with Roc Nation Sports headed by Jay Zee, both newcomers from the music industry. Is this the future of boxing sans the boxing establishment of Bob Arum, et al?
