DANNY GARCIA PUNCHES “HOLES” IN PAULIE

Danny "Swift" Garcia

Danny “Swift” Garcia

San Francisco, CA– It wasn’t a beat-down as one-sided as Larry Holmes-Muhammad Ali, or the more recent Manny Pacquiao-Oscar De La Hoya clash, but the “drip, drip, drip” whipping ascending World 140 lb. king Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) put on Paulie Malignaggi was as predictable as the sun coming up tomorrow. Throwing home runs and imposing his size advantage from the get-go, Danny was never threatened.

HOMETOWN GUY THROTTLED…SHOULD RETIRE

Sans any real punching power, a superlative boxer at 135 & 140, Malignaggi was the “opponent” even though the ESPN televised event took place on Paulie’s hometown turf at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Paulie, who has come a long way since the US Golden Gloves title, needs to concentrate on his TV work and retire from boxing at 33-7, 7 KOs.

JACOBS GETS WIN AFTER “SNAP, CRACKLE, POP”

Thought to be long past his prime, TV’s Contender champ Sergio Mora and Cancer survivor Danny Jacobs (30-1, 27 KOs) exchanged clean knockdowns in round one before Mora suffered a broken ankle after a tussle in which Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) was going down for the second time. Interesting for as long as it lasted, and Mora wants a rematch, that’s not happening.

BIG FIGHT IN BROOKLYN PLANNED

Unbeaten Peter Quillin of Brooklyn is the fight for Jacobs, recognized by the World of Bunco & Anarchy (WBA) as a titleholder at 160 is a “nice”story, recovering from Cancer, etc. But that won’t get him past a “sharpened” Quillin who is coming off a Draw 12 with the awkward southpaw puncher Andy Lee.

JHONNY WHACKS JAPANESE FOE SETTING UP JAPANESE FIGHT

Mexican puncher and former WBC strongman at 126, Jhonny Gonzalez (58-9, 49 KOs) drilled out classed Kazuki Hashimoto (11-5, 7 KOs) in his first outing since Gary Russell Jr. throttled him in March, is “green lighted” to now face WBC 130 lb. champ Takashi Miura in Japan before the year is out.

AVALOS CLIMBING BACK ON UNI MAS

#9 ranked IBF contender Chris Avalos (26-3, 18 KOs) went the eight round route with Rey Perez (20-6, 5 KOs) at 122 in the Uni Mas TV feature Saturday night. The Californian Avalos was “beaten up” earlier this year by unbeaten IBF king Carl Frampton of the UK.
