According to our poll here on RingTalk.com that began earlier in the week, readers chimed in on their thoughts. 91.5% of those that participated in the poll agree that Pacquiao, who is believed to be as high as an 8-1 favorite in the sports books wins this fight. 6.5% have gone out on a limb and picked the 38 year old Marquez who went 0-1-1 in the first two meetings, the first being a disputed draw at 126lbs, and the second a close split decision victory for the Filipino congressman in their bout for the WBC 130lb crown in 2007. A paltry 2% predict a draw. This writer thinks Paquiao will leave no doubters this time around and win decisively. Expect the Mexican warrior to put up a valiant effort, but the referee will save him from further punishment around the end of the 8th round.
AGE, SIZE, WEIGHT, DIMINISHED SKILLS ALL IN PLAY
Marquez, the current 135 lb. champion weighed in 142 today while Pacquiao scaled 143. This will be detrimental to the Mexican star, as well as the Filipino’s improved skills since their last meeting. He’s dominated bigger and stronger men such as Shane Mosley in his last outing, and general logic says he gives Marquez an early exit for the first time in his career.
