MAYWEATHER BEATS PAC “ONE ON ONE” IN PPV
San Francisco, CA– Although he only fought once, the reluctant and often truculent Floyd Mayweather Jr. beat Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao’s pay per view numbers by an estimated 250,000 buys with his 12-round waltz with Shane Mosley in May. The Pacman’s best numbers were against Antonio Margarito with 1,150,000 buys. Seeing Pacquiao made two ring appearances (notice, I didn’t say fights) with Margarito and Joshua Clottey, he actually topped “Money May” by 500,000 buys, seeing the Clottey fight did 700,000 homes on PPV.
UFC KICKED THE S*IT OUT OF BOXING ON PPV!
Although the people at the top of the food chain are still getting “fat” per se, the game is struggling as the powers that be, with the exception of Francisco Valcarcel’s World Boxing Organization (WBO), they have no “vision” when it comes to the future, as the Puerto Rican based WBO is funding training programs in over 30 countries. Outside of that, boxing is doing nothing to replenish their dying fan base, nor are they working to develop new talent.
