MANNY PACQUIAO SHAKES GHOST OF TIM BRADLEY
San Francisco, CA– It was a night where “smoke & mirrors” were at work. First up, we need to recognize Manny Pacquiao dominating Tim Bradley with two 116-112 (8-4 rounds) scorecards and a 118-110 (10-2) tally. In just about every manner of pugilistic measure, Manny Pacquiao was a better fighter than Tim Bradley. Outside of that, it wasn’t Marvin Hagler-Tommy Hearns, but Manny clearly landed more telling punches than Bradley.
WHAT DOES BEATING BRADLEY SET UP?
With a record of 56-5-2, 38 KOs, Congressman Manny Pacquiao appears to be out of super fights unless you consider he and Juan Manuel Marquez for the 19th rime. Speaking of, JMM may have bitten off too much with a May fight with Mike Alvarado (time for a low back injury). Now I realize the brains at Top Rank think this is a winnable fight for Marquez, I’m not so sure he doesn’t get out boxed by the Colorado fighter. Were he to lose, Marquez vs Pacquiao would not have the market value it does would today.
SHOULD BE ALL ABOUT ANOTHER MARQUEZ FIGHT
From a fan’s perspective, should Juan win they need to make the 19th Pacquiao fight while it still smells like Downy treated clothes and not a used sock. As for Bradley, now 31-1, 12 KOs, that thumping Ruslan Provodnikov put on him is telling. Working behind some type of “mental block” Tim failed to really do anything but clown around defensively as if he were Roberto Duran, when the reality is that Tim was only in this fight because he got a gift the first time and beat Provodnikov on the official scorecards, but NOT the Neurological ones.
FORGET MAYWEATHER FIGHT….PLEASE
A fight with Floyd Mayweather is a “pipe dream” for Pacquiao fans who still fantasize about a match up. Based on last night and Mayweather over Canelo Alvarez, it would still be a one-side rout for the non-orgasmic Mayweather. As for “smoke and mirrors,” Bradley was never that good. As for Manny Pacquiao, the Pacman fights great for a guy that’s 35 and has 63 fights. But while the fans have to be happy he won, there was no return of Superman, just the mild mannered Clark Kent. In 2014, Manny Pacquiao has one fight left and that is Marquez.
TIM BRADLEY NEEDS TO COUNT HIS MONEY & FINGERS
The way Bradley responded to some of Pacquiao’s punches I said were telling. They were, Tim Bradley is a shot fighter, damaged goods at the age of 31. Tim walk away now and hope that the punches you’ve taken won’t prevent you from enjoying grandchildren. There was speculation that Pacquiao-Bradley might be the end of an era. It was for Tim Bradley.
