(Vacant WBO 115 lb. title) The ageless Arce (53-6-1, 40 KOs) becomes a four time champion in dominating his opponent Angkota (23-5, 14 KOs). Angkota was trapped in his own corner for most of the fight by Arce, who got the better of the exchanges. The bout was stopped after Angkota suffered a cut over his right eye from an accidental headbutt in the seventh round. The technical decision read 58-56 and 60-54 twice.

EX-CONTENDER CAST MEMBER WINS ON ESPN

Reno, NVJesse Brinkley, 167.5, Las Vegas, NV UD 12 Curtis Stevens, 165, Brownsville, NY. Brinkley (35-5, 23 KOs) scored an easy win. Stevens (21-3, 15 KOs), who had promised an early KO, started out landing good left hooks in round one. Brinkley, survived the storm, however, and began to break down Stevens. Curtis finally felt Brinkley’s barrage and went down at the end of the sixth. The hard punching Stevens looked to score a KO as the rounds passed, but Brinkley for his scored another knockdown in the 12th to win scores of 117-109, 118-108 and 119-107.

Albuquerque, NMChris Avalos, 118, Lancaster, CA.TKO 4 Jose Nieves, 119, Carolina, Puerto Rico. Avalos (15-0, 12 KOs) takes care of business against Nieves (17-2, 8 KOs). The Avalos express rolls along with a 4th round stop at 2:20.

Archie Ray Marquez, 132, Albuquerque, NM. UD 8 Derrick Campos, 132, Topeka, KS. Fighting in his front of hometown fans may have lost the first round for Marquez (9-0-1 ND, 6 KOs) against an outclassed Campos (20-8, 11 KOs). But after the first it was all Marquez winning by scores of 79-72, 80-71 and 77-74. Marquez took over control in the 2nd round to outbox Campos for the duration, scoring a knockdown in the final round.

VEGAS BASED LIGHT HEAVY SUFFERS SPLIT LOSS

Las Vegas, NVGabriel Campillo, 175, Madrid, Spain SD 12 Beibut Shumenov, 174.5, Las Vegas, NV. (WBA 175 lb. title) In a blood splattered rematch, Shumenov (9-1, 6 KOs) won a controversial verdict to capture the title. Ex-champ Campillo (19-3, 5 KOs) landed the more accurate and cleaner punches against his wild-swinging challenger. Campillo, cut over the left eye by a punch in round five, but Shumenov was busted up by an accumulation of punches. Campillo looked to be on his way to stopping Shumenov in the ninth round, but his lack of punching power was evident as the aggressive Shumenov out-muscled him down the stretch. Scores were 117-111 and 115-113 for Shumanov, and 117-111 for Campillo.

TELEMUNDO AIRS FROM MEXCIAN CAPITAL

Mexico City, MXJesus Ruiz, 118, Sonora, Mexico UD 12 Luis Melendez, 118, Cartagena, Colombia. Ruiz (20-2-2, 17 KOs) won an easy decision over Melendez (26-5-1, 21 KOs). Ruiz was knocked down in the third but returned the favor by putting Melendez on the canvas in the ninth round and winning with scores of 115-111 twice and 117-109.
