(WBA 175 lb. title) In one of the more exciting bouts in recent memory, Campillo (19-2, 6 KOs) kept the title in defense #1 by defeating tough but inexperienced Shumenov (8-1, 6 KOs). Shumenov started aggressively, throwing numerous punches that were mostly blocked by his opponent. Campillo stayed calm while controlling the pace. Shumenov tired after six rounds, caught his second wind and floored Campillo in #9. Campillo remained composed and fought back aggressively. The championship rounds saw this incredible pace continuing. However, Campillo clinched his victory with a body shot that put Shumenov down in #12. All three judges scored it for Campillo at 114-112 twice and 114-113.

MINTO DECLARED CONTROVERSIAL (NO?) AT HOME
Butler, PA– Brian Minto TD 4 Donnell Holmes. Minto, now 34-2, 21 KOs, wins controversially over previously Holmes (31-1-2, 27 KOs). Minto suffered a cut above his eye early in round four, with no indication from the referee on what caused the cut. The bout was stopped at the end of the round and for some reason went to the scorecards where (unsurprisingly) Minto was ahead by scores of 39-37 & 40-36 twice. We’ll follow up on this with the Pennsylvania Commission head Greg Sirb Monday.
