IN A PERFECT BOXING WORLD

Los Angeles, CA– In a rightous world, Tavoris Cloud would’ve handed over his IBF belt to Gabriel Campillo on Saturday night and said, “You’re the champion and I want a rematch to win my belt back.”

THE PERFECT WORLD CONTINUED

Judging would be delegated to the most qualified officials in title fights. There would be a National Boxing Commission. The best fights would be on national television. America would have better heavyweights.

WAIT, I’M NOT DONE YET!

There would be more boxing gyms, some might not even charge $100 a month. Far less fights on Pay Per View. More fights in Los Angeles. A plethora of quality trainers. Better quality fighters. I can go on and on, but I’m sure you get the picture already. Much like a bullet-riddled man, how much longer can boxing live without intervention?

MY PARTING SHOT!

After watching the criminal scoring that resulted in Paul Williams getting the nod over Erislandy Lara last year and Tavoris Cloud winning a split decision over Gabriel Campillo, I have to ask is boxing any different today that it was when Mafioso Frankie “Mr. Gray” Carbo ruled the sport in the 50s?
