BEST “POUND-FOR-POUND”(?) FIGHTS SATURDAY

Anthony "Showtime" Pettis

Anthony “Showtime” Pettis

Los Angeles, CA– Grab a seat and enjoy “Showtime” on Saturday night, as Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (18-2) defends his UFC lightweight belt against Rafael dos Anjos (23-7) in the main event of UFC 185.  Pettis, the UFC lightweight (155 lb.) champion is one of the best all-around fighters out there, and he will continue to prove that on Saturday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX with what I believe will be a decisive win over dos Anjos.  The Brazilian will give his all, but he appears to be no match for the amazing Pettis.

STRAWWEIGHT (115) TITLE ON THE LINE IN CO-MAIN

Carla "Cookie Monster" Esparza

Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza

Strawweight champion Carla Esparza (10-2) will defend her title against tough striker Joanna Jedrzejczyk (8-0).  Poland’s Jedrzejczyk could easily take the belt, but I see the versatility of Esparza winning the day.  This bout will be interesting from start to finish, so make sure you tune in.

HENDRICKS ON THE REBOUND

Former welterweight (170) champ Johny Hendricks (16-3) will try to bounce back from losing his title by securing a win over Matt Brown (19-12).  This will be a fun fight for the fans, and one I see Hendricks winning.  Brown is very tough and has improved drastically the last few years, but Hendricks is simply better.

EXPECT KNOCKOUT WITH THESE HEAVYWEIGHTS

Alistair Overeem (38-14, 1 NC) and Roy Nelson (20-10) will clash at heavyweight (265 limit) in a fight that will not likely require judges.  I can see either guy winning.  Overeem is technically superior, but Nelson has the better chin.  I lean towards Nelson in this one.  If he is victorious, we may soon see the end of Overeem under the Zuffa banner.  Dana White is not a big fan of either fighter, so this is a win-win scenario for him.

BANTAMWEIGHTS (135) TO OPEN CARD

Henry Cejudo (7-0) will face recent title challenger Chris Cariaso (17-6) in the opening bout.  This looks like a win for Cariaso, who has a definite advantage in experience.  The action starts at 10PM/7PM ETPT.
