RICH MEXICAN KID LACKS DEDICATION
San Francisco, CA– Just about everybody, including myself, did the Freddie Blassie act on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. after he was routed by Andrzej Fonfara this past Saturday on Showtime.
SON OF A LEGEND ACT “STALE” FOR YEARS
Not only has his being Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.’s “son of a legend” act grown old, Jr. no longer has the momentum he once had on Bob Arum’s Top Rank plantation. in addition, his skill set is not where it should be after 50 professional fights.
RICH KID TOO WELL FED FOR SUCCESS
Having studied the kid early on, this at a time when he didn’t even shave regularly, I watched this rich Mexican kid work a room of media in San Jose, CA, circa his professional debut AND it was obvious to me that Jr. knew from the start that he could never come close to the heights of Julio Sr.
FATHER STARVED DURING PROFESSIONAL INFANCY
The reason “wealth” was brought up here is that Sr. was “hungry” turning pro, while Jr. had “already eaten” when he first punched someone for pesos.
SULAIMAN LAST DOCTRINE
Everybody knew of his informal ordination as a pelvic missionary, the lack of any real dedication and that Arum’s matchmakers, aided throughout by WBC chieftain Jose Sulaiman assuring Jr. got spots deserved by others.
WBC TITLE WAS THE ZENITH PERIOD
The WBC belt at 160 lbs. was Sulaiman’s last coup before checking out, wrapping that green belt around the waist of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was significant for the ‘BC and Mexican folklore. But at the same time, the king had no clothes.
HAD EVERY RIGHT TO QUIT
You know, I dogged Jr. a bit about quitting before round ten against Fonfara initially. But then I thought about it and realized I was contradicting my own creed. Had it NOT been Chavez’s kid, the plug would have been pulled sooner.
CHAVEZ ON ROAD TO SERIOUS INJURY?
Not only was he losing every round, the manner in which Fonfara was landing hard punches, why should JC Jr., or anyone else for that matter take further punishment when the outcome is as clear as it was after nine frames.
DELUSIONAL JR. HAD LOTSA’ BOWLING PINS
In hindsight, they should have stopped it earlier for it appears that Jr. is either punchy permanently, or at least was punchy post fight Saturday night when he stated he said he was “winning the fight.” OK, next for Chavez should be retirement. With the aid of the aforementioned, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. rose to heights in boxing that he could have never achieved had he not been a good bowler.
FREDDIE BLASSIE TREATMENT OF CHAVEZ JR.
Freddie Blassie was a legendary pro wrestling heel or bad guy who was almost always in character. Approached on a Honolulu beach by a kid in the 60s who asked Freddie for an autograph. Blassie, again sticking to character, screamed at the kid and kicked sand at the young lad.
SHOULD NOT HAVE FOLLOWED FREDDIE
The “heel of heels” didn’t need to do that and thus we shouldn’t take pleasure in the beating of a man, albeit JC Jr., the son of a legend and near senseless. But as sadistic as it may sound, even coming from me, for some reason we did.
