SHOWTIME “SUPER SIX” A CLOSE ENCOUNTER

Froch (28-1, 20 KOs) won a hard twelve round majority decision over Johnson (51-15-2, 35 KOs). Johnson brought the fight to Froch with a relentless attack early. However Froch adjusted and took control, but Johnson became more aggressive and the bout became a war. Froch had more left in the tank and won by scores of 117-111, 116-112 and 114-114.
KESSLER BEATS FRENCHMAN EASILY
Mikkel Kessler, (166.4), Copenhagen, Denmark TKO 6 Mehdi Bouadla, (166), Aulnay-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis, France. Kessler (44-2, 33 KOs) opened up in round two and dropped Bouadla (23-4, 11 KOs) with a furious assault in round three, somehow surviving THE round. Kessler continued to tee off in round four, but the stubborn Bouadla kept coming. Kessler finally pounded him to the deck twice in round six and the bout was waved off by referee Manuel Maritxalar. Time was 2:25.
HBO HAS UNFAIR MAIN EVENT WITH CHAVEZ WINNING
Los Angeles, CA – Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (160), Culiacan, Mexico MD 12 Sebastian Zbik, (158.8), Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. (WBC 160 LB. title) Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30 KOs) previaledf with a 12-round majority decision over tough but light punching Zbik (30-1, 10 KOs). Chavez rehydrated to 180 pounds while Zbik climbed to 165 after Friday’s weigh-in. Zbik was busier and more accurate while Chavez landed the more damaging blows and did some devastating bodywork. Zbik landed many flush shots to Chavez’ head although neither fighter was seriously hurt. Scorecards were 115-113, 116-112, and 114-114. Pedro Fernandez will expand on the “unfairness” of day before weigh ins Monday AM.
Miguel Garcia, (127), Oxnard, CA TKO 4 Rafael Guzman, (126.75), Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Garcia (26-0, 22 KOs) impressed just about everyone, albeit the fourth round TKO came over late sub Guzman (28-3, 20 KOs). Time was 1:55.

ESPN 2 AIRED LIVE FROM TAMPA
Tampa, FL– Yudel Jhonson, (152.5), Miami, FL UD 10 Jose Torres, (154.5), Magangue, Colombia. Jhonson (11-0, 7 KOs) outclassed Torres (24-5, 19 KOs) over ten mostly uneventful rounds. Never going for the KO, Jhonson was content to pile up points. Scores were 96-92 twice and 97-91. Both fighters were deducted a point in this foul-fest.
