EX-CONVICT NABBED FOR SEX ACTS WITH BOY

San Francisco, CA– There are times when you’re a sick dope fiend, a perverted criminal and grow out of it. You find a way to “heal” yourself of violent behavior and the like. But more often than not, what you have is a habitual crook who either gets away with a lot of crime, a couple of stints on probation, or goes back to prison. And then there is the “dormant” criminal psyche. Stereotypically, he’s got a lot of tattoos whether he’s white, black, brown or green, gets out and works for years before he commits another heinous act.

Is this the case with boxing trainer Anthony Serrano? Thought to be a community icon, the 45-year old pictured here has not yet been charged, but he’s being held on $100,000 bail. The kid became a member of the gym some four years ago, around the age of 11. Apparently he has “talent,” that’s why it’s only a matter of time before his name becomes public. I won’t print it when it does. Now 15, the youngster told his mom that Serrano, an ex-convict molested him only after they moved away from Santa Ana.

But when Serrano got out of jail he was thought to be on the straight and now after opened the Santa Ana Gym located on the corner of Fourth & Garfield streets. The Santa Ana Police say Serrano took a “special liking” to the kid because he had star potential. According the cops, Serrano “Committed lewd acts with the boy at the club, at boxing tournaments and at Serrano’s house.” OK, you don’t think he is boxing’s Jerry Sandusky yet?

In 2008, Serrano was accused of sexual conduct with a teenage boy, another member of his gym. End result? The Orange County District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges. With the latest allegations, they are going to resubmit the 2008 case to the DA who will charge him for that deviate act of four years ago. Ready for the cop’s final quote? “We believe because this is an individual who has access to kids with the same circumstances, that there are potential additional victims out there.” Is he the Jerry Sandusky of boxing or not?
BOILS DOWN TO WHOM WOULD YOU BELIEVE?
The case appears to boil down to the word of the victim vs. the word of Serrano. Who do you think an Orange County jury is going to believe? I’m expecting prosecutors to ask a judge to raise the bail amount substantially in the coming days. That’s unless this is a weak criminal case, which in the mind of this former policeman it isn’t. Some of you are going to say I’m cutting this guy’s throat before trial. But with two boys coming forward, one four years apart claiming the same thing, that makes me believe Anthony Serrano is boxing’s Jerry Sandusky!
