HBO GOES NORTH & DAWSON GETS BEATEN!

Quebec, Canada – Jean Pascal (174 lbs), Quebec, Canada TECH UD 11 Chad Dawson (174),  New Haven, CT (WBC 175 lbs title) Pascal (26-1, 16 KOs) and Dawson (29-1, 17 KOs) fought at a good pace, with both fighters landing a fair share of shots.  In his hometown, with each blow Pascal landed, the crowd erupted with approval.  Dawson was hurt by a right from Pascal in the eighth but held on to survive.  Realizing he was behind, a more aggressive Dawson, finally had Pascal  hurt in the ninth but failed to follow through.  Round 11 began with Dawson pouring it on, almost scoring a necessary stoppage after hurting Pascal.  The “stop” came but not as Dawson had hoped, as he was  the victim of an accidental head butt which opened a gash over his right eye.  The local Doctor stopped the fight at first glance.  Per the WBC rules, if more than half of a round is over, that round is scored.  Scores were 106-103 twice and 108-101.

FOX SPORTS HAD GREAT CARD TOPPER!

Laredo, TX- Miguel Vazquez (134.25 lbs), Jalisco, Mexico UD 12 Ji Hoon Kim (134.25), Goyang City, South Korea (vacant IBF 135 lb title) It was not even a hard sparring session as Vazquez (26-3, 12 KOs) the superior boxer completely dominated an ineffective aggressor in IBF #1 contender Kim (21-6, 18 KOs).   The #3 ranked Vazquez’ movement confused Kim who lost by scores of 119-109, 120-108, and 118-110.  In closing, the IBF rankings committee should be ashamed.

ARREOLA STOPS EATING LONG ENOUGH FOR ESPN 2

Ontario, CAChris Arreola (256), Escondido, CA UD 12 Manuel Quezada (228 lbs), Wasco, CA
Always fat and heavy, Arreola (29-2, 25 KOs) gets an easy win with a one-sided 12 round beating over Quezada (29-6, 18 KOs.  Arreola, was just too big (pun intended ) for Quezada.  Arreola floored Quezada twice in round nine, this after eight rounds of domination. Quezada’s late rally came to an end after being dropped again in the 12th. Scores were 117-108 and 118-107 twice Arreola said he injured both hands in the post fight interview.
