HBO BOUT MARRED BY HEAD CLASHES

Pontiac, MITimothy Bradley, (139.6 lbs), Palm Springs, CA Technical Decision 10 Devon Alexander, (140) Saint Louis, MO. WBC/WBO 140 lbs titles. WBO champion Bradley (27-0, 11 KOs) scored a disappointing ten round technical decision over now former WBC champion Alexander (21-1, 13 KOs).  All the rounds were unspectacular and close.  Alexander, cut over the right eye by an unintentional headbutt in round three, seemed to be affected by the foul.  Bradley landed the more effective shots as Alexander moved around the ring.  Two more accidental head clashes in round eight didn’t help.  Then in round ten, another head clash mysteriously rendered Alexander unable to open his eyes which ended the bout.  Scores were 97-93, 96-95, and 98-93.

ESPN 2 FEATURES FAT ARREOLA

Temecula, CA. – Cris Arreola, (249.6), Escondido, CA. TKO 1 Joey Abell, (236.6), Coon Rapids, MN. Arreola (30-2, 26 KOs) just runs through and over Abell (27-5, 26 KOs) in just 2:18 of round one.  Though one could argue about an early stoppage, there was no doubt to the conclusion.  Abell was out on his feet after a thunderous right from Arreola knocked him against the ropes, no complaints from the Abell camp.
