HBO GETS GREAT FIGHT AS KIRKLAND & ANGULO DELIVER
Cancun, Mexico– James Kirkland, (153 lbs), Austin, TX TKO 6 Alfredo Angulo, (154), Coachella, CA. With both Kirkland (30-1, 27 KOs) and Angulo (20-2, 17 KOs) tasting the canvas in round one, it looked to be an early night for either guy. Not so much, after six rounds of mainly offense by Kirkland it was Angulo who wilted and was stopped on his feet. Amazingly, even though both fighters were hurt again after their up and down opening round, there were no more knockdowns. The end coming at the 2:01 mark of round six. Kirkland gets biggest win of his career. Angulo just gets his ass kicked.
