WBC CHAMPION FACES RUGGED BIKA

Las Vegas, NVAl Haymon brings boxing back to national television for the second time this year on Saturday April 4th. His series Premier Boxing Champions makes its debut on CBS, airing at 3PM EST.

Stevenson KO's Dawson

Stevenson KO’s Dawson

The main event features WBC light-heavyweight (175 lb.) champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (25-1, 21 KOs) against former WBC super-middleweight (168 lb.) titlist Sakio Bika (32-6-3, 21 KOs) live from the Pepsi Coliseum in Montreal. It is expected to be a safe defense for Stevenson, a Haitain now living in Montreal, as Bika is coming off a loss in a title losing effort to cancer survivor Anthony Dirrell (27-0-1, 22 KOs).

TOUGH BIKA NOTHING BUT

Bika has been in a lot of rough fights and the 35 year old has plenty of mileage on his odometer. While he may be outgunned against a bigger puncher in Stevenson, Bika always comes to fight with his lunch pail in hand. He will give his best effort, unfortunately it probably won’t be enough.

AMATEUR STAR FEATURED IN UNDERCARD

Russian amateur standout and former Olympian Artur Beterbiev (7-0, 7 KOs) looks to move a step closer to a world title shot when he faces former world champion Gabriel Campillo (25-6-1, 12 KOs). Campillo is an accomplished boxer, but is 36 years old. Beterbiev has taken on an ambitious schedule thus far, already having defeated former world titlist Tavoris Cloud (24-3, 19 KOs). If he is truly the goods as most expect he should dispatch of the weak chinned and light punching Campillo within a few rounds. The Russian possesses power in both hands and is a potential title challenger with an impressive win. Unfortunately him and Stevenson share the same promotional outfit, and it’s unlikely they will risk having them face each other in the immediate future as Stevenson has built up quite a fanbase. Beterbiev may have to chase the other man with the remaining titles, former amateur rival, the WBA, IBF and WBO champion Sergey Kovalev (27-0, 24 KOs).
