ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION
The signifigant factor here in favor of Hopkins is his jab. He has an almost 3 inch reach advantage. If he can control Kovalev with his jab from the outside and smother the Russian on the inside he has a chance. Kovalev just needs to fight like the younger man to win. He has the skill, athleticism and power to beat the 49 year old. Got to go with the younger man here. Must side with logic. Even though Kovalev has never gone past 8 rounds, not sure if Bernard has the reflexes to take him into deep water with out taking too much punishment early in the fight. A stubborn Hopkins is in a fight he didn’t need to take. He won’t get too much credit for beating Kovalev if he wins. People will cry that he was overrated. Bernard has a great chin, but just don’t see him making the distance here.
