KARMAZIN PREVAILS IN BATTLE OF EX-CHAMPS

Inglewood, CA– Shortly after the first bell rang it was evident that former WBO 154 lb. champion Bronco Mc Kart (51-9-1, 31 KOs) should call it a career. In losing a lopsided decision to Russias Roman Karmazin (37-3-1, 26 KOs) Bronco didnt appear shot; he just had no desire to shoot his guns go. The Russian used superior mobility and consistent body punching to gain an edge in every round.

CAN ROMAN FIND A SPOT AT 160? , With the win Roman hopes he has gotten himself into the middleweight (160) mix. Its likely that at 35 he just cant make the weight (154) anymore as he seemed sluggish and weak in his last outing, a TKO loss to Alex Bunema (30-6, 16 KOs). It remains to be seen how well hed fair against the current kingpins of the division, Kelly Pavlik (34-1, 30 KOs) and Arthur Abraham (28-0, 23 KOs).

CAN YOU COUNT TO FIVE?

The main event on Saturdays card from the Hollywood Park Casino wasnt the highlight of the night as the undercard produced early fireworks. In fight a between debuting cruiserweights Joe Schilling and Italys Orlando Brizzio, only five seconds were needed after the opening bell before we got the final verdict. Brizzio, who charged at his foe immediately as the bell rung, walked into a perfect right hand from Schilling, getting knocked out cold.

UNDERCARD HIGHLIGHTED BY TEAM ROACH

Most of the other bouts also ended early, including an exciting second round KO by Nigerian heavyweight (Freddie Roach trained) Lateef Kayode (5-0, 4 KOs) over an overmatched opponent. The muscular heavyweight may be someone to look out for in the near future. Another fighter from Roachs famed Wild Card Gym who impressed was Irishman Dean Byrne (10-0, 4 KOs), who out boxed Francisco Rios Gil (13-9, 9 KOs), before putting him on the floor with a perfect overhand right before the referee halted matters later in the round.

ANDRE WARD, ANGULO IN THE SEATS

Overall it was a solid night of boxing as Art of Promotions put on a quality show even though the main event didnt quite deliver much excitement. Notables in the crowd included former world champion James Toney (71-6-3, 43 KOs), junior middleweight (154) prospect Alfredo Angulo (14-0, 11 KOs), 2004 Olympic king Andre Ward (17-0, 12 KOs) and former UFC heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski.
