FIGHT FANS & SHOWTIME VIEWERS SHOULD CELEBRATE!
New York City, NY-The British website, www.SecondsOut.com is reporting that Showtimes boxing chief Jay Larkin, has been fired! It comes at a time, when the 50ish Larkin was enjoying his best run. And although hes been knee deep in controversy, including his seemingly incestuous relationship with British promoter Frank The Bullet Eater Warren, Larkin may have sealed his fate when he got Showtime to invest big money in the Jose Luis Castillo-Diego Corrales rematch of last month. The PPV buys, with pre-fight estimates as high as 500,000 homes, it didnt pan out, and the fight instead did only 225,000 buys., OVERALL, LARKIN WAS A CONNECTED FAILURE!
Although they say, dont kick a guy when hes down, Id like to kick Jay in his teeth, and with steel-toed boots at that! Of all the phony, hypocritical, self-centered people that have appointed themselves God in the boxing biz, in my opinion, it was Larkin that had taken that role to another level with his position at Showtime. And had it not been for the past 18 months, Larkins tenure as the boxing guy at Showtime, it would have been a complete and total failure!
HEY JAY, NOBODY CRIES FOR AN ASSHOLE!
With a wonderful wife, and doting children, Larkin, he had it all at home. His work, well that was another story. Instead of putting forth the best fights he could, for years Larkin forced on us British fighters, promoted by Warren. And when Don King was Larkins house promoter, those cards were for the most part showcase shows that were non-competitive, and only furthered the King and his men.
THOUGHT VIACOM MIGHT FIRE HIM YEARS AGO!
When I learned of that document on Frank Warrens letterhead, the one that had a carbon copy to Jay Larkin Enterprises, it looked as if Larkin would be leaving on his own accord. But when the gist of that document got into the public foray, all of a sudden, the alleged partnership between Larkin and Warren was off! Did I fail to mention, that a lawyer representing these folks, hounded me for months? I called Larkin on Tuesday, to congratulate him on his being canned, and instead got voicemail.
