EL CHICANITO” WAS A GEM OF A MAN

Los Angeles, CA– I don’t know where to start or where to end, but one of the greatest human beings to have ever graced us with his presence is no longer with us. When I interviewed Genario Hernandez Saturday morning on “Ring Talk Worldwide,” I cried because I knew the end was eminent. Not being negative, but after 20 years of talking with Genaro, and quite often over the last two years, I knew he had resigned himself to the fact he would soon be dead.

MOST PEOPLE BULLSHIT ABOUT THE DECEASED

In the coming days, you will read stuff from people that wouldn’t know Genaro from the cartoon character Hucklberry Hound, yet they will pontificate, if not outright pen pieces of fiction. He was 45, had two children, a wonderful wife and lost but two fights, one to Oscar De La Hoya, the other to Floyd Mayweather. He was 38-2-1, 17 KOs, fought out of Los Angeles, and a two time champion at 130 lbs.

SOME PEOPLE WHO HELPED GENARO OUT!

In closing, there were a couple of people who helped Genaro through his illness, one was publicist Bill Caplan now of Golden Boy Promotions and Shane Mosley. I may have had disagreements with both men over the years, but I was touched that you both stepped up for our friend.
