CHAVEZ JR. GETS SPANKING FROM “NEW” DADDY

Chavez Whacked By Fonfara

Chavez Whacked By Fonfara

San Francisco, CA– Although Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has some ability, he cannot beat up bigger men as Andrzej Fonfara proved Saturday night when Fonfara from the start until the end, lit Chavez Jr. up like the White House Christmas Tree in a light heavyweight (special weight 172 lb.) contest at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, CA via Showtime.

“SON OF LEGEND” BEATEN UP BAD

Chavez’s only plus was Fonfara had a point taken for a “shoulder butt” by referee Jerry Cantu in the seventh. The Chavez Jr. low light for his devout Mexican fans was his whining to the referee because his own weight woes put him in with a natural bigger and obviously stronger guy.

LARRY MERCHANT PREDICTED UPSET

On “Ring Talk,” the Saturday edition, Larry Merchant picked Andrzej to upset Chavez Jr., taking into account the natural size (body mass) advantage Fonfara has and that he went the route with linear champ Adonis Stevenson in 2014. Post fight, the Hall of Famer said. “The fight went about the way I thought it would. At 160 he had a size advantage. What I can’t believe is that Jr. turned down a $10 million deal to fight Gennady Golovkin from Top Rank (Bob Arum).

AL HEYMON LOSES WITH CHAVEZ

Having cherry picked opponents for years, Chavez Jr., undisciplined, a middleweight (160) if he were semi-dedicated, had been as high as a rumored 215, before making 171 plus change Friday. Fonfara in the upset threw a wrench at a potential Chavez-Stevenson or any Chavez-Gennady Golovkin fight.

“BIG AL” HAD HOPES FOR SON OF LEGEND

Advisor/Promoter Al Heymon suffers a significant loss, his first in a long while. As for Chavez Jr., there was a picture floating about of him being loaded into an ambulance post fight.

FONFARA MADE CHAVEZ SAY “NO MAS”

Being up 9-zip and 8-1 twice in rounds, Fonfara made the son of iconic Mexican champion Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. quit after being round nine. At first I was critical of Jr.. But truth be told, Fonfara sprayed Jr. round after round with that Ass Whip aerosol spray until Jr. resigned after being dropped in round nine. Now 27-3, 17 KOs, Fonfara has traction, while at 48-2-1, 32 KOs, Jr. has none!

“OMAHA KID” TERENCE CRAWFORD GETTIN’ BETTER

In a split HBO feed with Matthysse vs. Provodnikov in Verona, NY and the Turning Stone (a dry) Casino, unbeaten WBO 135 lb. champion Terence Crawford remained so and added the WBO 140 lb. diadem to his resume by taking out Thomas Dulorme via KO 6. After five pedestrian stanzas, the “Omaha Kid” uncorked a right that dropped Dulorme hard. Another flurry rendered him horizontal once more, this before a barrage of connections dropped him a third time, referee Rafael Ramos waved it off at the 1:51 mark of #6. The victor is 26-0, 18 stops. Dulorme declines to 22-2, 12 KOs.

MERCHANT WEIGHS IN SUNDAY MORNING

Appearing on the Sunday edition of “Ring Talk,” Larry Merchant said that the Crawford looks like the only “real threat” to a 38 year old Floyd Mayweather, this if Manny Pacquiao cannot beat him May 2.
