I’M MORE LIBERAL THAN EVEN PAT RUSSELL
San Francisco, CA– Coming from what is perceived as the last liberal bastion, San Francisco, there is a line in the sand when it comes to men beating on women. That being said, a news story that I first heard about while waiting to tape Uriah Faber last week in the Sports Byline Broadcast Network headquarters here, there is a professional fighter in Florida that was born a man now fighting as a woman.
OLYMPICS ALLOW TRANSGENDER ATHLETES
Having asked some people to weigh in on the subject of 37-year old Fallon Fox, born a man and now fighting MMA as a woman, if they think this is even remotely fair? They all answered in the negative. Look, I went so far as to ask an MD years ago, who is probably still laughing at me for asking what he thought was a lame question.
SHOULD FLORIDA HAVE TOLD FOX’S OPPONENT?
Again, here’s where it gets touchy as the Florida Athletic Commission finds itself in a bit of dilemma as the last chick to fight Fox, Ericka Newsome is pissed that nobody told her Fox had a went meatless in 2006 and has taken female hormones since.
FOX SPINNING TALES LIKE KARL ROVE ON FOX
Now 2-0, 2 dominant wins, Fox says she has, “No unfair competitive advantages.” I think that is not the case and I can tell you why. I once saw a transgender male to female clear out a bar of thugs (guys were horizontal inside and out) in the Tenderloin district here. Then a rookie policeman assigned to Central Station, my Field Training Officer told me to let her finish her business as he wanted her as tired as she could be prior to the handcuffs.
TIME FOR YOU TO CHIME IN ON TRANSGENDER FIGHTERS
Look, I believe in a free society in which people can live their life with anybody they choose to. Equal rights for women, gays, transgender folks, I don’t care if you sleep with red ants, if that is what you want to do I feel you should have the right to do so.
SAFETY VS. CIVIL RIGHTS: SHOULD THERE BE ANY QUESTION?
But this is a “touchy” subject. Wit that being the case, I’m going to weigh in on the side of safety as if I were still handling fighters I would not allow my girl to fight Ms. Fox. I might have let the Cris “Cyborg” Santos of 2010 fight her as she always looked like a man due to steroids. What’s your take on this: Should Fallon Fox, born a man that had a sex change procedure in 2006 be allowed to fight as a woman?
