HEAVYWEIGHTS SO BAD THEY PUT CRACK HEADS TO SLEEP!

Los Angeles, CA-In a heavyweight crossroads bout featured on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights, Philly’s “Fast Eddie” Chambers did little to boost his reputation in winning a lackluster ten round majority decision over a grossly overweight Samuel Peter of Nigeria. Peter, a former WBC heavyweight champion who tipped the scales at 256 lbs., he lacked intensity, focus and desire. Chambers who appeared cautious of Peter’s power throughout the fight, controlled the pace with his jab, and occasionally would land a nice right hand.

PETER EATS LIKE PIG, TRAINS LIKE DOG Chambers fought defensively for most of the contest, and Peter showed no sense of urgency. The Philly native out boxed the Nigerian in the majority of the (see boring) rounds, but neither guy produced much offense. Chambers, whose only loss was to Alexander Povetkin, his record moves to 43-1 with 18 KOs. Peters record slides to 30-3 with 23 KOs.

OLYMPIC HOPE SNAGS THIRD KO

On the undercard US Olympian Shawn Estrada upped his record to 3-0, all KOs, winning by first round TKO against an overmatched Ray Craig (5-4, 2 KOs). In a short but exciting brawl, eventual loser Carlos Vinan (8-7-1, 1 KO) exhibited tremendous heart trying to match mits with big punching lightweight John Molina (16-0, 12 KOs). He failed and the referee halted the slaughter at 2:40 seconds of round two.
