CONTENDER TV CHAMP MORA ON THE DEUCE (ESPN 2)

Both Vera’s (18-5, 11 KOs) and former WBC junior middleweight (154) champion Mora’s (22-2, 6 KOs) faces were a bloody mess after this exciting fight. Vera applied more pressure during the fight while Mora flurried and was on defense most of the night. Mora poured it on too late as scores were 96-94 twice for Vera and 96-94 for Mora. This is the second time Vera pulled off an upset handing hot prospect Andy Lee his only loss in a prior bout.

Santa Ynez, CA– Luis Franco (126), Miami, FL SD 10 Leonilo Miranda (126), Sonora, Mexico. Franco (9-0, 5 KOs) shows his will and heart by outlasting KO artist Miranda (32-3, 30 KOs). Power puncher Miranda dropped Franco in round although it was ruled a slip. For the next few rounds Franco’s superior boxing skills were on display. Miranda’s best round was the fifth as he punished Franco with power shots. The rest of the fight saw both Franco and Miranda going all out throwing and landing blows with abandon. Scores were 96-94 for Miranda and 97-93, 96-94 for Franco.

Kayode (16-0, 14 KOs) struggles with to defeat the pesky Iannuzzi (16-2, 9 KOs). Kayode’s 14 fight knockout streak came to end as Iannuzzi, who was deducted a point for punching after the final bell, was not going down. Scores were 98-91, 97-92, and 95-94. The decision was booed.

Lares, Puerto Rico Mike Perez (136), Newark, NJ TKO 8 Marcos Herrera (135) Arvada, CO. Perez (12-0-1, 6 KOs) looked impressive in stopping Herrera (6-4-2, 2 KOs). Perez staggered a hopeless Herrera halfway into round eight causing the referee to wave the fight off at 1:36.
