DILLASHAW & OTHER YANKEES DOMINATE UFC TODAY
Hayward, CA– Having been a follower of the UFC early days, I have always been enamored with the Brazilian contingent and their involvement. But what I see now is a sport that continues to evolve and what was once controlled by Brazilians is now an international endeavor.
DILLASHAW-BARAO FIRST FIGHT TRUE “BEATDOWN”
When T.J. Dillashaw (11-2) was announced in March 2014 as the next challenger for UFC bantamweight (135 lb.) champion Renan Barao, most people thought of it as, “Luchmeat for Barao” as this native of Rio De Janeiro has lost “only” his pro debut.
RENAN “RAINING” ALL OVER URIJAH FABER
It was February 2014, Barao was in with the popular “California Kid” Urijah Faber. The champion had Faber in a seated position throwing down right hand after right hand. Although some thought the ending was premature, Faber especially, Barao was now 32-1.
IMPROVED DILLASHAW NEVER LET BARAO IN FIGHT
Barao was a 4-1 favorite who had trouble May 14 making the 135 lb. limit for Dillashaw. Whether that had any influence on the outcome or not is not known. What we do know is that T.J. opened up a can of “But Whip” and sprayed the Brazilian with punches, takedowns, kicks, Dillashaw was in control until he slapped a choke on Renan in round five.
BARAO “FAINTED” BEFORE SIGNED REMATCH #1
A rematch was set for August and UFC 177, but a few days prior Barao passed out as he attempted to stand vertically. Most people attribute it to “weight woes” and unheralded Joe Soto stepped in and Dillashaw ran over the Californian like an aluminum can.
FOX TV MAIN EVENT IS PAY PER VIEW QUALITY
These two fighters, Tyler Jeffrey Dillashaw and Renan Barao are the two best fighters in the 135 lb. weight class. The manner in which T.J. dominated Barao leads many, including myself to think he romps once again over the Brazilian inside the five-five minute rounds. Oddsmakers have T.J. a -$230 favorite.
