HEAVYWEIGHT BACK QUICKLY AFTER KLITSCHKO MASSACRE
New York, NY– Heavyweight (200+ lbs) contender Chris Arreola (27-1 24 KOs) who was horse whipped by Vitali Klitschko (38-2 37 KOs) in September, plans to hop back into the ring on December 5th in Atlantic City, NJ. After a losing effort in the biggest fight of his career, Arreola of Los Angeles, CA, wants to stay busy and is wasting no time in getting back into the ring with his appearing underneath Paul Williams-Sergio Martinez.
DOES CHRIS NEED A “GIMME” FIGHT?
The reported opponent is the relatively unknown Derric Rossey (22-2 12 KOs) after a proposed fight with Brian Minto (34-2 21 KOs) was called off. Perhaps Minto spilled the beans too soon, announcing the fight on the radio before it was official.
BIG CHRIS JUMPING BACK TOO SOON?
Although Arreola took a beating, it doesn’t look like his spirit has been broken. Because of this, he remains a threat in the current landscape of the heavyweight division for anyone not named Vitali or Wladimir Klitschko. He’s still a tough opponent and certainly has more fights left in the tank.
ROSSEY JUST A CONFIDENCE BUILDER?
His next opponent Rossey doesn’t have a lot of experience but he’s been in the ring with the likes of Ray Mercer, Alexander Dimitrenko and Eddie Chambers. He was able to beat Mercer on points, but doing so in 2008 is not saying much. With only 12 knockouts in 24 fights, it’s not likely Rossey will be a threat, at all. However, if Arreola does well mentally he should be able to close the gap between where he is now and where he was as an undefeated fighter prior to facing Vitali Klitschko.
