TOP MIDDLE GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN HEADLINES HBO SATURDAY

Los Angeles, CA- An often used quote in boxing is “Never fall in love with a puncher.” On Saturday night, 2004 Olympic Silver medalist from Kazakhstan and current WBA middleweight (160 lb.) titleholder Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 13 KOs) puts that unbeaten record on the line against formidable challenger from the UK Matthew “Mac the Knife” Macklin (29-4, 20 KOs).

WILL GOLOVKIN STOP MACKLIN?

Unfortunately the experienced veteran is the one going into a gun fight with a knife. Golovkin, has an impressive amateur resume with a stoppage win over former IBF super middleweight (168) champ Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KOs), and Olympic victories over super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell (21-1, 14 KOs) and middleweight title challenger Andy Lee (30-2, 20 KOs), and if he is equal to the massive hype he’s been garnering he should cut through Macklin “like a knife through butter.” The Kazakhstan native has recorded 13 consecutive stoppages, and a victory Saturday in a bout that hails live from Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Conneticut will bring him one step closer to facing aging middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 26 KOs). Below is a list of boxings top knockout artists.
