NEW ERA* OF HBO BOXING BEGINS AT MANDALAY BAY TONIGHT!
After being bounced out of office last week, Sports CEO Ross Greenburg is getting more money via a “Golden Parachute” from his years at HBO than any of us can only dream about. That being said, we can pray the waspy guys at Time Warner pull the plug on the Sports Vice President Kerry Davis*, sooner rather than later. For if this boxing programing is to turn it’s ratings around, the man with the oh so beautiful wife and kids, Kerry needs to get the boot too!
WILL KHAN ANSWER QUESTIONS OR AFFIRM DOUBTERS?
Las Vegas, NV– (HBO) Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KOs) vs. Zab Judah (41-6, 28 KOs) (WBA & IBF 140 lb. titles) Odds/Prediction: Khan 2 1/2 to 1. Khan’s young, Judah, a 15 year pro is old by industry standards. But with Pernell Whitaker training him and Victor Conte offering nutritional advice, more people I know are going with Zab to pull off the upset here. Many think Khan is a “Con” and that he is nothing more than a Brit being pushed to a level his skills (and chin) don’t match. Amateur prodigy or not, I’m leaning towards Judah, who himself was an amateur standout.
TYSON FURY TOPS PAY PER VIEW CARD FROM WEMBLEY
London, England– (PPV) Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KOs) vs. Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KOs) Odds/Prediction: Fury 3-1. They say in boxing, follow the money. If that’s the case, Tyson Fury is the projected winner here. Some say Chisora can fight, but the way, the manner in which they are building up Fury seems as if Team Fury wouldn’t risk his unblemished mark in only his 15th outing. Besides, Chisora looked fat at the weigh in. Was dropping $900 clams on Fury to win $300, now it’s $1,800 to win $600..
MAN WHO SHUT JUAN MA UP & TOOK WBO TITLE IN ACTION
Centro de Usos Multiples, Ciudad Obregon, Mexico
(FOX Sports) Orlando Salido (35-11-2, 23 KOs) vs. Kenichi Yamaguchi (17-1-2, 4 KOs) (126 lb. title) Odds/Prediction: Salido 5-1. Crummy record and all, I like Salido here BIG. Problem is I don’t like laying a lot to get a little. That being said, I’m willing to risk $1500 to make $300. Rematch with Juan Manuel Lopez said to be in the works, can’t see Japanese fighter sans power having any chance here!
FOUGHT ONCE ON NBC YEARS AGO, FLORES IN MAIN!
O’Reilly Center, Springfield, MI– B.J Flores (24-1-1, 15 KOs) vs. Nicholas Iannuzzi (16-2-1, 9 KOs) Odds/Prediction: Flores 3-1. Flores a better fighter overall, BJ not great, but good! Wins going away here.
