HOLYFIELD PPV MAIN AN ABBREVIATED MAIN EVENT

(258), Vero Beach, FLHolyfield (43-10-2-1 NC, 28 KOs) and Williams (34-11-1 NC, 19 KOs) ended in disappointing way. Holyfield was cut over the left eye in round two by an accidental headbutt and rocked by a Williams’s right hand in round three. After the round Holyfield said he couldn’t see and the bout was declared a no contest.
Kevin Johnson, (245.5, Atlanta, GA UD 8 Julius Long, (300), Detroit, MI. Johnson (24-1-1, 10 KOs), on short notice, wins an easy eight round unanimous decision over seven-foot giant Long (15-15, 13 KOs). Johnson dropped Long twice in round eight. Scores were 79-71 on all cards.
Monte Barrett, (228.5), Queens, NY MD 8 Charles Davis, (232.5), Tucson, AZ. Former title challenger Barrett (34-9-2, 20 KOs) and sub-500 record holder Davis (19-21-3, 4 KOs) fight to an uneventful eight round majority draw. Scores were 77-75 Davis and twice 76-76.

Matthysse (28-1, 26 KOs) punished former world champion Corley (37-16-1, 22 KOs) from the opening bell mainly to the body. After numerous knockdowns, three in the round eight, the massacre was mercifully stopped at 2:00 of round eight.

Garcia (17-2-1, 11 KOs) hands Urina (17-1, 14 KOs) his first defeat ov0er twelve hard rounds. Garcia dropped Urina late in round four and opened a deep gash on his hairline with an accidental headbutt in round six. Bleeding heavily for the rest of the bout, Urina dropped Garcia in round twelve but survived to earn scores of 116-110, 116-109, and 117-109.
